π’ A Global Sanctuary for Sea Turtles: Cape Verde is the third-largest nesting site in the world for the protected Loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta). Between July and October, the beaches of Sal turn into a safe haven where mothers lay their eggs and tiny hatchlings make their first rush to the ocean.

π Singing Humpback Whales: Between February and May, the waters surrounding the islands become a temporary home for breeding humpback whales. If you go out on a catamaran cruise during these months, you can often spot them breaching or even hear the males singing underwater.
