🛂 Airport Registration & TSA (EASE): Visitors from Europe do not need a traditional visa, but you must register online prior to departure via the official EASE platform to pay the airport security tax (TSA)

• • Who: All travelers from Europe (regardless of age) visiting Cape Verde.

  • What: A mandatory online registration to pay the Airport Security Tax (TSA), replacing the traditional visa.

  • When: Complete the form online at least 5 days before departure via the official government platform (ease.gov.cv).

  • Cost: Approximately €31,- (3.400 CVE) per person.

  • Exemptions: Children under 2 years old and Cape Verdean passport holders do not need to pay the tax, but must still be registered.

💶 Currency & Payments: The local currency is the Cape Verdean Escudo (CVE), but Euros are widely accepted everywhere in Santa Maria.

💱 The Local Exchange Rate: While the official rate is around 1 EUR = 110 CVE, local shops and restaurants usually calculate cash Euros as 1 EUR = 100 CVE for convenience.

💵 Cash is King: Credit cards are rarely accepted on the island. Always keep enough cash on hand for your daily adventures.

🏧 ATM Daily Limits: There are plenty of banks in Santa Maria. Note that ATM withdrawals are capped at 20,000 CVE (~€200) per transaction, and local banks charge a €5 fee per withdrawal.

🔌 Electricity & Plugs: The apartments use standard European plugs (220V), so no special adapters are needed for EU guests.
